Bank Central Asia- BCA for short- is Indonesia's largest retail bank boasting 7.7 million individuals and 300 companies as customers. Over 5 million of these customers already hold BCA ATM/Debit cards.

The satellite-operated ATM (Automatic Teller Machine) network has long enabled customers to withdraw cash, transfer funds between BCA accounts, pay monthly bills, purchase cellular phone credits as well as view balance information. The relatively recent addition of the debit feature has also allowed customers to shop with BCA ATM cards at numerous merchants throughout Indonesia.

As the number of customers has grown, so has BCA attempted to expand its services while ever- mindful of the high maintenance costs of the satellite system.

Besides cost factors, BCA was also aware of the inconveniences of traditional methods of banking which necessarily involve queuing and tedious paperwork.

With a clear vision to the future, BCA set about finding solutions through developing a web- based alternative. The result? Klikbca.com was born.

Challenge

Establish a user-friendly web-based interface between BCA customers and their bank which will compliment BCA's other services and eventually become their preferred method of banking.

Prepare easy-going information flows.

Make the administration process as easy as possible so the website can be naturally dynamic.

Strategy.
BCA customers familiar with the ATM machine interface are the target users of klikbca.com.   Throughout the development, we endeavored to make klikbca.com just as convenient and secure as an ATM machine.  Therefore, when customers first click klikbca.com they see the BCA ATM interface with additional features that the Internet has made possible.

To make customers feel as comfortable entering klikbca.com as they would visiting one of our branches, we transposed the company logo and trademark colours onto the BCA site.

All the features in the world would amount to nothing if customers could not find their way around, so we endeavored to present the features in a simple but attractive format.

Technology.
Klikbca.com was designed as a completely dynamic website. So we created an easy- to-use content updater application, an Agrakom specialty.

Information Architecture.
In the development of websites, the information architecture has always been our top concern. We have always made websites as simple as possible and minimized the use of browser buttons or additional URLs. We realize that this is increasingly essential as online banking services will no doubt continue to expand in accordance with the needs and desires of customers.
